How to figure out your TC settings in Le Mans Ultimate, a question that keeps me up at night.
The problem for me isn’t that I don’t know what works or doesn’t. The problem is, how do I explain it in a way that gives you tools to actually use it effectively?
To be fully honest, the settings feel inconsistent, random, and somewhat like a magic box.
Or at least, they seem that way.
Should I go for 7–3–3, or 5–5–5, or 1–9–9?
First number TC = base traction control, high means more intervention
Second number TC = when it activates, how much it intervenes
Third number TC slip = how much slip is needed before it intervenes
And even then, if you max everything out to 11–11–11, it’s still possible to spin the car in a slow corner. Some cars have it worse than others.
I’m pretty confident that a Porsche or any mid-engined car can run lower values than the front-engined cars.
Except for the BMW… that one is just weird. And OP at the same time, at the time of writing.
So, enough with the confusion. Let’s get to what I actually use.
Start with a base value of 7–7–7. This works pretty much on every car. If you're worried about performance, go 6–6–6.
Now, I found that if you go lower than that, you create a car that suddenly wants to murder you in a spin on slow corners, yet it doesn’t seem to give you any gains throughout the lap.
If you’re aiming for safety, I’d just run 9–9–9 and leave it there.
Sure, you might run lower numbers on TC cut and TC slip, but again, that’s very personal and car or track dependent.
I’ve found that hitting the throttle in mid-speed second or third gear, pumping the throttle for some rotation, can be desirable in some scenarios, and then a 6–6–6 or 7–7–7 can give you that behavior.
I’ve added a dedicated video to the setup packs for all the LMGT3 cars with a high corner rotation hack for TC, and I also adjusted the Aston Martin TC settings.
Check your recently bought pack here for that video
I’m drawing up a rain setup philosophy, and I’m seeing a connection between Sebring dry setups and rain setups. This might be a good add-on to the car setup packs, under investigation.
